Florida State and Oklahoma to Face Off in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl

The Florida State Seminoles will meet the University of Oklahoma Sooners in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl at Camping World Stadium on Thursday, December 29. Kick off will be at 5:30 p.m. and the gridiron match-up will be televised nationally by ESPN. Florida State and Oklahoma have met seven times previously, with the Sooners claiming six wins, including a victory in the 2001 BCS Championship Game in Miami. The teams most recently met in 2011 in Tallahassee.

Florida State has made three previous Cheez-It Bowl appearances, with the most recent coming in 2011 against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Seminoles also won the 2008 Champs Sports Bowl over the University of Wisconsin Badgers, as well as the inaugural Cheez-It Bowl, known then as the Blockbuster Bowl, in Miami in 1990, against the Penn State Nittany Lions. They have made one other Orlando bowl appearance in the Tangerine Bowl in 1977 — Seminole former head coach Bobby Bowden’s first bowl win while in Tallahassee.

Oklahoma’s only previous Cheez-It Bowl appearance came in the 2014 edition of the game, known then as the Russell Athletic Bowl, with a loss against the Clemson University Tigers.
