Rev. Dr. Robert M. Spooney Joins Downtown Development Board

Last updated on July 28, 2025

We are pleased to welcome Rev. Dr. Robert M. Spooney to the City of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board and Community Redevelopment Agency!

Rev. Dr. Robert M. Spooney is the longtime pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Institutional Church, Orlando’s oldest African American church, and a dedicated civic leader. A former president of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, he currently chairs the Parramore Community Engagement Council and serves as Assistant General Secretary of the Florida General Baptist Convention. Honored for both his spiritual leadership and community service, Dr. Spooney was recently recognized with a City of Orlando proclamation naming March 10, 2024, as “Rev. Dr. Robert M. Spooney Day.”

His deep community ties and decades of leadership make him a tremendous asset to the board.

We’re also excited to announce new leadership on our board. Kimberley Stewart of KRS Wealth Management will serve as our new Board Chair, and Rachael Moalli from the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts will serve as our incoming Vice Chair. We look forward to their guidance and leadership in the year ahead.
