From Shelter to Stability Through 407 Connect

Under the leadership of Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orlando’s 407 Connect program is redefining how our community addresses homelessness.

Launched in August 2025 with a goal to house 407 people over three years, the program is already outpacing expectations. In just over one year, 407 Connect has supported 260 individuals and helped more than 160 people transition into housing. By pairing overnight shelter with wraparound support, 407 Connect is turning temporary relief into permanent stability. Each night, participants stay on climate-controlled buses equipped with private sleeping pods, privacy curtains, charging outlets, onboard restrooms and dedicated security. That nightly security, paired with individualized case management and support, turns temporary shelter into a real doorway to permanent housing.

The program's impact can be seen in the lives of participants like Jashonda and Taylon. After 17 years without a home, Jashonda gained stability through the program, moved into her own apartment, and now volunteers with the Christian Service Center to support others. For Taylon, having a safe place to sleep and shower gave her the footing she needed to rebuild her life and become a full-time marine biology student at Valencia College.

Watch the video to hear Jashonda and Taylon’s stories and see how this program is driving lasting change in Orlando.
