Exciting Progress for The Canopy

Last updated on May 20, 2025

The Canopy, a transformative public space planned for the heart of downtown Orlando is making progress. On May 19, a milestone was reached during a City Council meeting, where steps were taken to authorize a contract that will help bring this visionary project to life.

Located within the I-4 corridor, The Canopy is envisioned as a space that brings art, shade, and gathering areas to create a dynamic and inclusive environment for residents, workers, and visitors alike. More than just a beautification effort, this project is central to reshaping how people experience and move through our urban core. These efforts are in direct alignment with the DTO Action Plan, which outlines bold steps for creating a more vibrant, people-centered downtown.

The project team is working toward achieving Substantial Completion by August 31, 2027, marking a new chapter in Orlando’s evolution as a modern, livable, and art-forward city. As progress continues, The Canopy represents not just a new space but a new vision for how spaces downtown can be utilized.

Stay tuned for more updates as The Canopy continues to take shape.
