Calling All Creatures & Creators

Downtown Orlando is calling on artists and creatives to help shape downtown’s visual landscape through two exciting opportunities designed to bring more art, energy, and community experiences to downtown. From large-scale murals transforming downtown buildings to immersive Halloween-themed installations, artists of all mediums are invited to apply and share their creativity with thousands of visitors, residents, and workers. 

The Downtown Arts District and CityArts are now accepting applications for the 2026 Orlando Mural Festival, presented by the Downtown Development Board (DDB). Selected muralists will receive paid commissions ranging from $3,000 to $25,000 to create original large-scale murals throughout downtown Orlando. The application is free, the theme is open, and artists from the local, regional, national and international communities are encouraged to apply. Now entering its third year, the festival continues to grow as a signature public art event, expanding from its inaugural year of panel installations along Magnolia Avenue into a vibrant celebration featuring building murals, live music, food trucks, art vendors and more. Applications are due Wednesday, August 12, at 11:59 p.m.  

Artists and creatives also have the opportunity to bring a little spooky spirit to downtown through a new DTOLive United Arts Creative Placemaking pop-up installation in partnership with the DDB. This Halloween-inspired activation will transform the 7-11 Gallery at 55 West Church Street into an immersive public art experience designed to showcase local talent, increase pedestrian activity and add seasonal excitement to downtown. Artists working in any medium - including visual art, sculpture, fashion, set design and creative installations - are invited to submit their work. Selected artists will receive a stipend of up to $3,500 to support materials, installation, transportation, design and artist fees. Installations will be on display from September through November 22, 2026, and applications are due Monday, August 10, at 5 p.m. 

Whether creating a landmark mural or a one-of-a-kind immersive experience, artists have the opportunity to make their mark in downtown Orlando. These initiatives reflect the city’s continued commitment to supporting artists, activating public spaces and creating memorable experiences for the entire community.
