A Prehistoric Peek at 55W

Last updated on April 13, 2026

A new window activation at 55W is bringing a bold blend of art and science to downtown through the DTOLive Creative POP-UP program. Created by artist James Waldron, PALEOrlando (AKA Dinosaur Swan Song) transforms the space into a layered visual journey that traces the evolution from ancient predators to modern-day birds.

Waldron’s work combines artistry with scientific storytelling. Life-sized, 3D printed fossil elements, including skulls, claws, and wishbones, are integrated throughout the display. A motion-enabled animatronic raptor introduces an unexpected sense of energy and surprise.

Interactive QR codes placed along the exterior glass extend the experience beyond the window, offering access to short educational videos, augmented reality features, and downloadable activities. This layered approach encourages exploration and discovery, making the installation as informative as it is visually striking.

Designed with bold color and strong contrast and rooted in a mission to make natural history more accessible, PALEOrlando bridges the gap between art and science, sparking imagination and conversation among those who pass by.

Be sure to stop by 55W this month to experience this dynamic installation that reimagines the story of evolution in a way that feels both contemporary and timeless.
