Kolumi Lights Up Orlando's City-Owned Locations with Sustainable Light

Last updated on April 17, 2023

Kolumi is an entrepreneur company that went through the Rally program, which is offered by the Central Florida Foundation and funded by the City of Orlando. Entrepreneurs who go through the Rally program and have a product/concept that addresses social/ future-ready issues (including but not limited to - housing, transportation, energy solutions, sustainability, homelessness, etc) give a presentation to a committee of city employees. The city will fund two of the companies that present an idea that can be applied in our city's current landscape.

Kolumi was one of the companies chosen in 2022 to test their specialty lights in the city's admin garage. Joey Genovesi is the entrepreneur, creator and founder behind Kolumi, a company that is using recycled aluminum, glass, and plastic to create sustainable lighting systems that are reducing energy consumption by 60-80%, reduces carbon footprint by more than 80% and require no maintenance for up to seven to 10 YEARS. The best part? When the light has lived its life, it is also 100% recyclable, leaving zero waste behind. If the testing goes well, the city will consider installing the product in more city-owned locations.
