UCF Celebrates the Arts: Music and the Brain

Next date: Wednesday, April 08, 2026 | 07:30 PM to 09:00 PM

Experience the inspiring connection between music and neuroscience in this special UCF Celebrates the Arts 2026 presentation. Led by Dr. Kiminobu Sugaya (Professor of Medicine and Head of Neuroscience, UCF College of Medicine) and Dr. Ayako Yonetani (Professor of Violin, UCF College of Arts and Humanities), Music and the Brain brings together live chamber music by the Pegasus String Quartet and insights from leading scientists exploring how music influences mood, cognition and brain health.

Patrons who wish to participate in the study must register in advance here or call 407-COM-TRIALS or email comtrials@ucf.edu. Participation is entirely voluntary, and guests are welcome to attend the performance even if they choose not to participate in the study.

This engaging evening blends art and science to illuminate how live music affects the human brain—and how research at UCF is advancing our understanding of mental wellness through music.

This event is made possible by a Pabst Steinmetz Foundation Arts and Wellness Innovation Award.
