The United Football League was only an idea for Bill Hambrecht in the ‘90s. He was mystified to why the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Oilers would relocate from their perspective areas. They were leaving some of the best growth markets in the country. There were also many great football players and not enough teams to fill in the NFL. Bill’s idea was to provide quality football at affordable prices in underserved markets.
His idea became a reality when the United Football League kicked off in October 2009 and has since then grown in popularity and expanded in franchise. There are currently five franchises, which are located in Orlando, FL; Las Vegas, NV; Sacramento, CA; Hartford, CT; and the recently added Omaha, NE.
The Florida Tuskers will have open tryouts on June 26 in Atlanta, GA. Coach Jay Gruden and his coaching staff will be testing players in the 40-yard dash and short shuttle along with individual position drills. The Tuskers open training camp is August 8, in Orlando for the second season of the United Football League.
The Florida Tuskers Cheer and Dance Team will also have final auditions this Saturday, June 19, at the Orlando Fashion Square Mall at 6:00PM.
The season will kick off Friday, September 17, with the Tuskers versus the Las Vegas Locomotives.
