What's Going on at the History Center?

Did you know the Orange County Regional History Center, located at 65 E. Central Blvd, was once the Courthouse? They are open seven days a week from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. The History Center currently showcases some of the collections of the Historical Society of Central Florida throughout their three floors as well as florida themed exhibits. Before checking out the fun summer exhibits on the horizon be sure to catch the following two exhibits closing May 16.

Out of this Word: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television exhibit is currently at the History Center until May 16, 2010. This exhibit features costumes from characters in the movies Star Wars, Blade Runner, Terminator 2, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, Ghostbusters II, Batman and other such popular films and television shows. Come out and discover how the costume design helped performers engage the audience and portray the character they played.

Lights! Camera! Action! Filming in Paradise exhibit is also at the History Center until May 16, 2010. This exhibit features films that were filmed or have some scenes in Florida . To get an idea of what’s behind the scenes of filmmaking, there is a recreated set from Florida Swampland that you can walk through and experience.

The History Center will also be offering a camp program through the summer. Adventures in History Camp program offers kids an opportunity to explore the world around them by expanding their imaginations and enhancing their knowledge.

Retro Game Night will be held on Friday, June 4. Come out and participate in the many games of Parcheesi, Pictionary, Chinese Checkers, Candy Land, Scrabble, Twister and much more. There will be free nostalgic snacks provided. Retro attire is encouraged.
