Downtown’s First Public Dog Run
About the Proposed Downtown Dog Run
The City of Orlando and the Downtown Development Board are committed to providing a diverse array of amenities that will enhance the lives of residents.
Earlier this year, to save the historic oak tree and preserve green space in the heart of our Downtown, the City purchased Constitution Green, which was previously privately-owned. Since then, we’ve been working on ways to further enhance this community amenity and gathering space for our residents.
There are several planned enhancements the City is working on to bring to Constitution Green in Downtown Orlando.
Proposed plans include the creation of Downtown’s first public dog run area with an off-leash, fenced in area located in the northeast corner of the park. The proposed design also builds on the City’s desire for the park to continue to magnetize people to it, strengthening our City and neighborhoods and making Orlando a more attractive place to live, work, play and thrive. Enhancements include new flowering trees that will provide more shade and color, benches for relaxing, sidewalks and a walking path to travel through and experience the magnificent oak trees in the park.
Incorporating a dog run aligns with the Project DTO Vision Plan as one of the 10 vision themes is to create an awesome outdoor City and will do so by providing residents, families and children important opportunities to interact, gather, share, create memories and relax.
The dog run will be located at the northeast corner of Constitution Green, located at 301 South Eola Drive.
The estimated completion for the dog run is Fall 2016.
